AT&T is planning on blowing out some unsold Apple iPhone inventory next week by offering the phone without a service contract. The phone will be available some time next week.

According to a presentation published by the Boy Genius Report, AT&T will sell the 8-GB iPhone 3G for $599 and the 16-GB iPhone 3G for $699 without requiring buyers to commit to a two-year contract. Contract-free iPhones are expected to be available March 26.[br /]
The “no-commit” price is only available to existing AT&T customers.[br /]
The promotion is for current customers who want to give an iPhone to someone else as a gift. AT&T is expected to release a new iPhone this summer, and is most likely planning on getting rid of their old inventory first.[br /]
